At the same price, you have to choose between one of these LCD screen ebook readers : the Sharper Image Literati Ereader vs Shift3 Lookbook, the question is which one is the best for you ? First of all let’s see how these two ereaders are different :
- In term of design, I have to say I preferred the design of the Sharper Image Literati, I don’t like a two-tone color scheme of Shift3 Lookbook, for me, it looked cheap. While the Sharper Image Literati seems quite unique and by its look, you can not tell that the Sharper Image Literati is a budget ebook reader.
- In term of specification,
1. Both share the same widescreen ratio, this is very interesting because both of these ereader cannot play video, so I don’t know why the Sharper Image Literati and Shift3 Lookbook have to come with a widescreen format that perfect for a movie watching,
2. While the Sharper Image Literati offers 256 MB for a built-in storage space, Shift3 Lookbook offers a 512 MB, and both can expand to 8GB via memory card, that in my opinion, you should leave a built-in space blank for OS running and buy an external memory card to store your books. So, in term of memory, Shift3 Lookbook is a better choice.

For a battery life, I believe both have the similar specification, not more than 6 hours on battery, you may think it is too less compared to Kindle 4 or Nook Touch that can be last long for months, but don’t forget that these are LCD screen ebook reader, not the e-ink screen ebook reader, even IPad still offers around 9-10 hours of battery life, so I think 6 hours is an acceptable parameter.
- In term of supports, while Shift3 Lookbook let you use Kobo ebook store for online purchases, Sharper Image Literati offers its own online ebook store that in my opinion is not as good as Kobo store. and there are complains about Sharper Image Literati lacks of support in customer reviews. If you are a computer expert, you may ignore this issue since you can find your preferred online ebook store but for a moderate ebook lover like me, I think ebook store support is a big deal.
To conclude, even I love the design of the Sharper Image Literati, but I think Shift3 Lookbook offers a better deal.
